Milan, 7 September (LaPresse) – "It is a great sorrow and emotion. What has always struck me most about Armani's dream is that he managed to stay in touch with the world and with people, which is not a given when you lead a life that can distance you from everything and everyone. It was his nature, and in my opinion, that is what allowed him to remain young. We have an image of him that has remained unchanged over time; he truly characterised some of the most iconic years of our country.‘ These were the words of actor Stefano Accorsi as he left Giorgio Armani's funeral parlour in Milan. Then a memory: ’The last time we saw each other, I was clean-shaven and he said I looked good. He was someone who told you what he thought; there was never any formality." ‘One thing that struck me was when we were at one of his fashion shows and I had just made a film. He made a point of telling me that he had seen it and gave me a very precise analysis of the film. He had an innate curiosity and that made him great. Today, there are many people paying tribute to him, and that is not to be taken for granted. Affection is not determined by sales, it is the result of everything he has done.’
