Rome, 23 October (LaPresse) – The Italian Data Protection Authority has imposed and notified Rai – Radio Televisione Italiana S.p.A. of a fine of €150,000 for violating certain provisions of the Privacy Code, the GDPR and the Rules of Professional Conduct relating to personal data in the exercise of journalism. The fine relates to proceedings initiated in December 2024 and concluded after a full hearing concerning the broadcast of an audio recording of a telephone conversation between Dr Gennaro Sangiuliano and his wife, Dr Federica Corsini, aired on 8 December 2024 during the programme “Report”, published by RAI. Also during today's meeting, but in the context of another proceeding, the Authority declared unfounded Sangiuliano's complaint against certain newspapers for the content of articles that allegedly violated his personal and private sphere.
