Rome, 26 October (LaPresse) – ‘I spent 55 years with Mauro, I met him when I was working at the Derby, when I was 15. Everyone who knew him knows this: you were never completely at ease when he was around, anything could happen.’ This is how Diego Abatantuono remembered his friend and colleague Mauro Di Francesco, who recently passed away, on Rai1's Domenica In with Mara Venier. ‘It's a bit hard to see these things,’ commented the actor, looking at photos from his years at the Derby, which show him together with Faletti, Boldi, Porcaro and Di Francesco. "I had a special friendship with Maurino that lasted for years. He had to have surgery but recovered, he was excited, enthusiastic because they had given him the management of a small theatre somewhere, but then the most unexpected things happen. I found out he was no longer with us from a phone call from his wife: everyone knows I'm a night owl, and it was late. The first phone call she made was to me. As soon as I saw the number and his name, I knew something had happened. It was a blow," he added.
