Turin, 28 Mar. (LaPresse) – James Tolkan, an American actor who was particularly active in the 1980s and 1990s, died on Thursday 26 March at the age of 84. The news was announced by a family spokesperson. Among his best-known roles was that of Headmaster Strickland in the “Back to the Future” series. Tolkan also starred in “Top Gun”, the 1986 cult film, playing Commander Tom Jardian – nicknamed “Singer” – alongside Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer.
