Frankfurt (Germany), 3 June (LaPresse) – Following controversy over a nude scene featuring actress Nastassja Kinski – who was a minor at the time – director Wim Wenders’ 1975 film ‘Falsche Bewegung’ (‘False Movement’) will no longer be screened, at least for the time being. As reported by the German media, the Wim Wenders Foundation has announced that the film will be withdrawn from all current forms of distribution. “As the only person still responsible for the film ‘Falsche Bewegung’ at the time of the events, I believe that Nastassja Kinski should have been better protected. For this, Nastassja, I apologise unreservedly,” Wim Wenders stated in a press release. “The numerous reactions, insights and conversations of the past few days have contributed significantly to further refining my understanding of the events of that period,” he continued. The aim is to find appropriate ways to address “controversial films of the 20th century” and to embrace “new learning processes and inclusive perspectives”. To this end, a broad dialogue will be sought. ‘Only after this, even if it takes longer, and after presenting a mutually agreed solution, also in consultation with Nastassja Kinski, will the film be released again.’
