Milan, July 23 (LaPresse) – Milan is scorching, with surface temperatures reaching up to 85 degrees Celsius. This is the ‘burning’ data from the thermal map by Legambiente, presented today in the Lombardy capital during the fourth stop of the traveling campaign “How hot it is! Against cooling poverty: cooler cities, fairer cities,” organized by the environmental association with the support of Banco dell’Energia.

Legambiente explains that Milan is increasingly becoming a "red alert city," where "the heat spares no neighborhood, not even Corvetto in the southeast quadrant, or Argonne in the east near Città Studi." The 49 thermographic scans conducted by Legambiente on July 15 and 16 in these two Milanese districts recorded ambient temperatures ranging between 30 and almost 40 degrees, resulting in surface temperatures peaking at 76.5 and 85.6 degrees Celsius. There is also concern over the sparse presence of tree-lined avenues, especially in Corvetto.

The event opened with a flash mob at Piazza Angilberto II, shouting “We are at the limit. Global boiling,” where Legambiente displayed a giant thermometer and the banner “How hot it is!” calling for immediate interventions and actions for cooler and fairer cities.
