Milan, Aug. 9 (LaPresse) – The Municipality of Genoa announced that “regarding the suspected West Nile virus-positive insect found in the area of the Staglieno cemetery during the periodic entomological surveillance as part of the Regional Arbovirus Plan, it is communicated that there are no health risks: the mosquito identified, of the genus Aedes (Tiger mosquito), is not capable of transmitting this virus.
Nevertheless, larvicide and adulticide treatments will be activated within a 100-meter radius as a precautionary measure, according to protocol. On Monday morning, intervention methods and additional monitoring will be decided at the dedicated regional intersectoral table, also involving municipal technicians.”
