Rome, Jan. 27 (LaPresse) – "They are a response to distortion. I believe this is the essence of the messages. Those who wrote the messages want to respond to the distortion. I’ll leave it at that," said Noemi Di Segni, President of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, on the sidelines of the Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration in Rome's Jewish Ghetto. She was commenting on the phrases that appeared last night at the Pyramid of Cestius and the FAO building in Rome.
When asked if she agreed with the message, Di Segni added: "I believe strong pain leads to writing certain things. A strong, very strong pain caused by the distortion we experience every day. And it is a distortion of memory to use these things against Israel, against Israelis, against Jews. So, it’s a response."
