Genoa, 10 March (LaPresse) – ‘We knew of an investigation but not of its content, we learn from the press about the proceedings. However, it seems to be based on a misinterpretation of the facts’. This was stated by lawyer Stefano Savi, legal counsel of former Ligurian governor Giovanni Toti, regarding the new investigation for fraud against the state that has emerged in recent hours, which, according to Il Secolo XIX in its online version, concerns a false assignment for a role as a political assistant that would have been given to the manager of a bathing establishment in Ameglia, near La Spezia, in exchange, according to the prosecution, for free access to the establishment itself. From what emerges, the regional councillor Giacomo Giampedrone is also included in the file, with the same hypothesis. The assignment was signed at the time by the former president, as was the practice until the rules were changed, which now sees this kind of agreement signed by the Region's chief of staff. According to Toti's lawyer, Stefano Savi, the investigation would be based on ‘a misinterpretation of the facts,’ he explains, ‘everyone who has had this role has always carried it out in the same way, from the ground up. This person would have been the soul of the election campaigns for years and, again commenting on press reports, one cannot understand the accusation directed at him and not at others'.
