Milan, March 23 (LaPresse) – This morning at 8 AM, four activists from Ultima Generazione entered Ristorante Cracco in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and poured the contents of three bottles of tomato purée onto the veranda.

"For the second time in a week, we are back to shout against the absurdity of a country where a luxury dinner costs as much as a family's monthly groceries. And once again, from Carlo Cracco, only silence. We ask him: is it normal for a dinner to cost as much as a family's monthly groceries? What is the right price for those who work hard in the fields for us? After all, food is his profession. Cracco should have an answer," the association stated in a press release.

Giacomo, a 34-year-old legal consultant, declared during the protest: "This time, we brought a symbol of agricultural exploitation: tomato purée. Farmers and laborers work for crumbs, crushed by prices that do not cover costs, while climate change dries up the soil. The Meloni government and Minister Lollobrigida praise 'Made in Italy' but abandon those who produce it. A system that enriches a few while hiding the hardship behind iconic products. The same mechanism allows a restaurant like Cracco to charge as much for a dinner as a family’s monthly groceries: while customers enjoy dishes costing hundreds of euros, thousands of workers struggle to survive. Those who want quality must pay a fortune—this is the real injustice."

To counter this reality, Ultima Generazione continued, "Yesterday, we organized a public lunch in Piazza Mercanti after the Digos prevented us from doing so in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Despite the forced relocation, around thirty people joined us, proving that solidarity cannot be stopped. We were very disappointed that such an event could not take place in the heart of a location that symbolizes inequality, like the Galleria. Apparently, the Municipality of Milan prefers to hide certain realities from the eyes of tourists and the so-called ‘respectable’ people."
