Bologna, 7 Apr. (LaPresse) – The attorney general of Bologna is seeking life sentences for the family of Saman Abbas, the 18-year-old of Pakistani origin who lived in Novellara, in the province of Reggio Emilia, and who was killed in the spring of 2021 after refusing to enter into a forced marriage. The family members for whom life sentences have been requested are her parents, uncle and two cousins. In the first degree, her parents, Shabbar Abbas and Nazia Shaheen, had already been sentenced to life imprisonment, her uncle Danish Hasnain to 14 years, while her two cousins Ikram Ijaz and Nomanoulaq Nomanoulaq had been acquitted and released. The prosecution in Bologna has reportedly alleged that the offences of murder and concealment of a corpse were committed with the aggravating circumstances of premeditation and base and futile motives.
