Vatican City (Vatican), April 20 (LaPresse) – “I stand close to the suffering of Christians in Palestine and Israel, as well as to all the Israeli and Palestinian people. I am deeply concerned about the growing climate of antisemitism spreading throughout the world. At the same time, my thoughts go to the population, especially the Christian community of Gaza, where the terrible conflict continues to bring death and destruction, creating a dramatic and ignoble humanitarian situation. I appeal to the warring parties: cease the fire, release the hostages, and help the people, who are hungry and long for a future of peace. ”These were the words of Pope Francis in his Easter message, read by the Master of Ceremonies, Archbishop Diego Ravelli. “Let us pray for the Christian communities in Lebanon and Syria, the latter of which is undergoing a delicate phase in its history, as they aspire to stability and participation in the fate of their nations. I urge the entire Church to support, with care and prayer, the Christians of the beloved Middle East. I also extend a special thought to the people of Yemen, who are enduring one of the world’s worst prolonged humanitarian crises due to war, and I invite everyone to seek solutions through constructive dialogue,” the Pope added.
