Vatican City, May 8 (LaPresse) – No ‘mid-morning smoke’ emerged from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel. A white smoke signal, which would have indicated the election of a new pope, was expected from 10:30 a.m. onward, but by 11:30 a.m. there was no sign. It is likely that the cardinal electors have already moved on to the third ballot. A smoke signal regarding the morning ballots is expected from 12 p.m. onward.
