Vatican City, May 18 (LaPresse) – Pope Leo XIV received the Pallium and the Ring of the Fisherman today. The Pallium was placed on the Pope by Cardinal Mario Zenari, while the Ring of the Fisherman was bestowed by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle. The prayer was delivered by Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, representing all continents.
"I greet all of you with a heart full of gratitude at the beginning of the ministry entrusted to me," said the Holy Father as he opened his homily at the Mass inaugurating his pontificate. The Pope quoted Saint Augustine: "You have made us for yourself, [O Lord,] and our heart is restless until it rests in you," a passage from Augustine’s most famous work, The Confessions. Augustine is the spiritual father of the order to which Prevost belongs.
