Milan, 19 May. (LaPresse) – A low-pressure area of Atlantic origin, currently located over the Iberian Peninsula, will move towards the central and northern regions of Italy on Tuesday, bringing unstable conditions that will be more widespread and pronounced in the north-western regions of the peninsula and Tuscany, with showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be intense. Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the regions involved – which are responsible for activating civil protection systems in the affected areas – has issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. The warning forecasts scattered to widespread rainfall from the early hours of tomorrow, Tuesday 20 May, mainly of a stormy nature in Piedmont, especially in the central-southern areas, and Liguria, extending to Lombardy, especially in the southern areas, Emilia-Romagna, especially in the central-western areas, and Tuscany, starting from the central-northern areas. These phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent lightning, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind. Based on the phenomena forecast and currently underway, a yellow alert has been issued for tomorrow, Tuesday 20 May, for some areas of Piedmont, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, the entire territory of Liguria, most of Tuscany and Umbria.
