Milan, 4 June (LaPresse) – ‘We are disgusted by the statements that have been made in recent days on various television programmes. They continue to sully the memory of our daughter. It is truly disgusting and squalid, I have no words to describe it.’ These were the words of Rita Poggi in a statement released with her husband in front of television cameras. ‘Our daughter,’ added the mother of Chiara Poggi, who was killed in Garlasco in 2007, "was a clean, simple girl. She had no mysteries, no secrets, no lovers. I heard that again last night. What is serious is that insinuations are being made about a girl who cannot defend herself. This is the most that could be done. I don't know who has an interest in this, but now the time has come to say enough is enough. We will no longer tolerate the memory of our daughter being tarnished."
