Milan, June 12 (LaPresse) – On the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labor Exploitation (today), UNICEF Italy presents the 3rd Statistical Report "Child Labor in Italy: Risks, Accidents, and Workplace Safety." In the post-COVID-19 years, following the resumption of work and school activities, there has been a progressive increase in underage workers (up to 18 years old, in the 15-17 age group – both employees and self-employed): 51,845 in 2021; 69,601 in 2022; 78,530 in 2023. For 2024, a further increase is expected, continuing the previous trend with 80,991 workers. The positions with the greatest increases are employees (excluding agricultural and domestic workers), agricultural workers, and collaborators and professionals under the Separate Management scheme (underage workers aged 15-17, source INPS). The regions with the highest percentage of employed minors (15-17 years) are Trentino-Alto Adige (21.63% of the minor population), Valle d’Aosta (15.34%), Abruzzo (8.46%), followed by Marche (7.57%), Puglia (6.24%), and Sardinia (6.24%).
