Palermo, 21 June (LaPresse) – After an hour of ascent, the hull of the Bayesian is out of the water, lifted by the maxi crane ship Hebo 10. The yacht belonging to British tycoon Mike Lynch, which sank on 19 August off the coast of Porticello, near Palermo, is currently attached to a number of suction pumps that are removing water from inside the wreck. The operations to refloat the vessel, carried out under the supervision of the Coast Guard vessel Diciotti, will proceed slowly and cautiously to avoid any risk of pollution. ARPA technicians are also on site and the area is being monitored by infrared drones capable of immediately detecting any chemical or physical changes in the water, which will be monitored both during the recovery of the wreck and during the transport of the Bayesian to the port of Termini Imerese. The operations are being monitored from aboard a Coast Guard patrol boat by the deputy prosecutor of Termini Imerese, Raffaele Cammarano, and consultants from the prosecutor's office. The yacht, which was brought to a depth of 10 metres yesterday, will be brought back to the surface today and will remain raised, probably until Monday, to allow the water to drain out. It will then be transported to the port of Termini Imerese for investigation by the public prosecutor's office. The area around the wreck is cordoned off for approximately 650 metres.
