Milan, 30 June (LaPresse) – ‘An elevator door broke because one of the pillars got stuck inside, but the tower itself is completely safe, stable and has no problems whatsoever.’ This was stated by engineer Marco Grampella, head of the Milan fire department, to reporters at the scene. ‘Security personnel heard the noise of the collapse, but the tower, designed to withstand heavy stress, did not suffer the slightest damage. The risks at the moment are only related to possible falling debris.’ ‘We will carry out assessments and try to minimise inconvenience to the public while maintaining a high level of safety,’ he concluded.
