Rome, July 21 (LaPresse) – The marble plaque in front of the monument dedicated to Giacomo Matteotti, located on Lungotevere Arnaldo da Brescia in Rome, was damaged this morning. Carabinieri from the Rome Flaminia station carried out an inspection, conducted forensic examinations, and have launched an investigation into the incident.
"I express outrage over what happened today at the monument in memory of Giacomo Matteotti. Damaging the plaque of an Italian who died for the freedom of us all is a serious act. An attack on his memory that we have the duty to condemn," wrote Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani on social media.
