Milan, July 31 (LaPresse) – A class action to defend those who bought homes that were never built due to halted construction sites in Milan: this is the step announced by the ‘Famiglie Sospese’ Committee during a protest breakfast held on Via Valtellina, in front of the blocked Scalo House project, which is at the center of the ongoing urban planning investigation.
On a small table, croissants and colorful notes tell the stories of dozens of buyers who, despite having signed mortgages and deeds, find themselves without a home. “Tomorrow morning at 9:30 we’ve been invited by Mayor Sala to Palazzo Marino, and we expect him to present solutions to our situation,” explained Filippo Borsellino, spokesperson for the committee.
In recent days, the group has been contacted by several trade associations, and together they issued an appeal to all institutions — “to the mayor, to the acting councilor, and to Minister Matteo Salvini — asking for the creation of a dialogue table so that Milan can start working again and unlock this situation, while respecting the ongoing investigation,” Borsellino added.
The protest also stems from the awareness that time is critical for many: “There are people who can’t wait 10–15 years; they’re 70–75 years old and don’t even know if they’ll still be here when the legal process ends. This time that has been taken from us will never be returned.”
As for next steps, the spokesperson announced, “The class action is one of the ideas we’re considering. We are carefully evaluating how to best protect ourselves.”
