Milan, 1 August (LaPresse) – ‘As part of the activities promoted by the Italian government to help alleviate the serious humanitarian crisis currently underway, I have authorised the activation and deployment of a defence mechanism to carry out air drops of humanitarian aid for the civilian population of the Gaza Strip.’ So said Defence Minister Guido Crosetto. "The intervention will be carried out in close coordination with the Armed Forces of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and operations are expected to begin in the next few hours with the dispatch of an “advance party” that will take care of preparatory activities and coordination with local authorities. Our first air drops are scheduled and could take place as early as 9 August, to allow the MAECI to complete the procurement of food supplies and their transport to Jordan," the minister pointed out.
