Milan, 2 August. (LaPresse) – "To the Prime Minister, who accused us of wanting to expose her to retaliation, in remembering the past from which she comes, as well as that from which the perpetrators of the massacres come, we want to say that respect for institutions is one thing, but accepting biased rewritings of history is another, something we are in no way willing to allow. Because, Prime Minister Meloni, condemning the Bologna massacre without recognising and condemning its fascist origins is like condemning the fruit of a poisonous plant while continuing to water its roots." These were the words of Paolo Bolognesi, president of the Association of the Families of the Victims of the Bologna Station Massacre of 2 August 1980. “Today we know who was responsible and we also have the evidence. The massacre of 2 August 1980, already planned in February 1979, was conceived and financed by the leaders of the notorious P2 Masonic lodge, protected by the leaders of the Italian secret services who were members of the same P2 lodge, and carried out by fascist terrorists,” he said. ‘These connections still seem solid and unacknowledged today, considering that until yesterday, investigations into the 2 August massacre were obstructed in every way with misdirection and disinformation which, although exposed and dismantled in court, led to years and years of delays in establishing the facts.’
