Milan, 12 August (LaPresse) – The unknown male DNA found in Chiara Poggi's mouth is the result of ‘unintentional contamination’ during the autopsy of the Garlasco murder. It was found to match a corpse that had undergone an autopsy ‘around the same time’ as the one conducted for the murder on 13 August 2007. This was announced by the Pavia Public Prosecutor, Fabio Napoleone, in a statement reporting on a consultation with professors and geneticists Carlo Previderè and Pierangela Grignani on the unknown “genetic profile” found on a “gauze pad” used by the coroner at the time, Dr Ballardini, and his staff to collect “biological material from the victim's mouth”.
