Milan, Aug 13 (LaPresse) – The Italian Data Protection Authority has launched investigations into data breaches affecting the IT systems of several hospitality establishments in Italy. These incidents reportedly led to the theft of thousands of high-resolution scans of passports, ID cards, and other identification documents collected during customer check-ins. Some facilities promptly reported the breach, allowing urgent protective measures to be taken. The Authority urges any hotels that have not yet reported such incidents to do so immediately and inform affected customers as required by law. Guests suspecting their documents may have been compromised are advised to contact the accommodation where they stayed. The Authority also recommends the use of secure data processing methods, such as the “Alloggiati Web” portal managed by the State Police.
