Rome, 22 August (LaPresse) – 12 million 255 thousand vehicle journeys are expected this weekend on the Anas network. Red alert is forecast for this afternoon, Friday 22 August, tomorrow morning, Saturday 23 August, and all day Sunday 24 August. According to Anas, there is a significant increase in journeys from holiday resorts to large urban centres throughout Italy. Traffic on the Anas network is expected to increase steadily this weekend as people return to the major cities in central and northern Italy. Due to the large increase in traffic, Anas has increased its staff throughout the country and reduced the number of roadworks. Until 8 September, 1,392 roadworks will be closed or suspended, approximately 83% of those currently active (1,672).
