Rome, 29 August (LaPresse) – "The world is full of noise, and our minds and hearts can be overwhelmed by different kinds of messages. These messages can fuel our restlessness and steal our joy. As a community of faith, seeking to build a relationship with the Lord, we can try to filter out the noise, the divisive voices in our minds and hearts, and open ourselves to the daily invitations to learn more about God and his love. When we hear the loving and reassuring voice of the Lord, we can share it with the world as we seek to become one in him. I am grateful for this honour, and especially for the Masses and prayers in my support celebrated this evening and on other occasions, as I seek to serve humbly." Thus Pope Leo XIV in a video message of thanks on the occasion of the presentation of the Medal of St Augustine, conferred by the Augustinian Province of St Thomas à Villanove (United States of America). Prevost then added: ‘As a community of believers, and inspired by the charism of the Augustinians, we are called to go forth to be peacemakers in our families and in our environment and to truly recognise the presence of God in one another. Peace begins with what we say and do and how we say and do it.’
