Milan, 3 September (LaPresse) – Technical landing for Israeli military aircraft at Sigonella base. The Defence Ministry clarified that on the afternoon of 2 September, a C-130 belonging to the Israeli Armed Forces made a technical landing at the U.S. Navy Air Station in Sigonella (Catania), ‘as part of a training and logistical support (refuelling) activity previously authorised in accordance with the procedures laid down by current national and international regulations’. The aircraft, the Ministry of Defence further specified, ‘carried only technical and logistical personnel, and no materials or equipment were or had been loaded on board’. Therefore, ‘during the stopover, which lasted approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, the aircraft received only logistical support from US personnel present at the base’. The Ministry of Defence also reiterated ‘that the use of Italian airspace and military infrastructure is in full compliance with national regulations and existing international agreements’.
