Vatican City (Vatican), Sept. 7 (LaPresse) – Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis are now saints. The canonization formula was read by Pope Leo XIV at 10:24 AM on September 7, 2025. These are the first canonizations announced by Pope Francis for the new Pontiff. After the proclamation of the new saints, the Mass presided over by Pope Leo XIV continued with the Liturgy of the Word. The first reading was delivered by Carlo Acutis’ brother, Michele. Among the faithful were also the parents of the new saint. This is a rare case in history due to the speed of the canonization cause for Acutis, who died in 2006.
