Vatican City, Sept. 7 (LaPresse) – “The saints Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis are a call addressed to all of us, especially to the young, not to waste life, but to direct it upwards and make it a masterpiece.” Thus spoke Pope Leo XIV during the homily at the canonization ceremony of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. “Both Pier Giorgio and Carlo nurtured love for God and for their brothers through simple means, within everyone’s reach: daily Holy Mass, prayer, especially Eucharistic Adoration,” the Pope recalled, adding: “Both, in the end, had a great devotion to the Saints and to the Virgin Mary, and generously practiced charity.” “Even when illness struck them and cut short their young lives, this did not stop them from loving, from offering themselves to God, from blessing Him and praying to Him for themselves and for all,” continued Prevost. During the homily, reflecting on the readings, the Pope had underlined: “The greatest risk in life is to waste it outside God’s plan.”
