Rome, September 10 (LaPresse) – Last night, between 2 and 6 a.m., a violent downpour hit San Michele al Tagliamento, Bibione, Porto Santa Margherita, and Caorle, with 122 mm of rain recorded during the event. Roads remain impassable and private properties flooded; firefighters and Veneto Civil Protection volunteers are working on-site to support municipal technicians. “I thank all the members of our Civil Protection and firefighters who have been working since last night to restore normalcy,” said Veneto Regional President Luca Zaia. The bad weather will persist in Veneto until this evening, with a more intense phase between morning and late afternoon, especially in the pre-Alpine area and the northeastern plains. Thunderstorms will be intense; additionally, at 1:05 p.m. a high tide of 105 cm is expected in the lagoon. Veneto Civil Protection has declared a yellow alert until 8 p.m. due to these severe storms, urging all citizens, especially those in high-risk areas, to exercise maximum caution.
