Rome, Sept. 21 (LaPresse) – “Thirty-five years ago, the violent hand of the mafia ended the life of Rosario Livatino, a young magistrate who had chosen to serve the State with rigor, sobriety, and courage. His brief but intense professional experience testifies to the dedication of a man who, despite his young age, embodied the highest values of justice: the pursuit of truth, respect for the dignity of every person, and tireless commitment against all forms of illegality,” wrote Chiara Colosimo, President of the Anti-Mafia Commission, on X.
“Alongside competence and a sense of duty, Livatino nurtured a profound and discreet faith that guided his daily choices and strengthened his responsibility as a magistrate. We owe to him the memory of a service lived as a mission, where justice intertwines with ethics and respect for conscience,” she continued. “Today, on the 35th anniversary of his sacrifice, we remember Rosario Livatino not only as an innocent victim of the mafia, but as an example of integrity and consistency, a ‘just judge’ who combined professionalism with Christian witness, leaving a moral and civic legacy that continues to inspire new generations,” Colosimo concluded.
