Florence, Oct. 13 (LaPresse) – Polls closed in Tuscany for regional elections. Counting will begin at 3 p.m., revealing the name of the next president of the region. There are 3,922 polling stations distributed throughout the region, including 29 in hospitals. Approximately 3 million Tuscan voters, 3,007,106 to be exact, were called to the polls to elect the president of Tuscany and 40 regional councilors. According to the first exit poll by Opinio-Rai, the center-left candidate for president of the Region of Tuscany and outgoing governor, Eugenio Giani, is expected to receive between 52% and 56% of the vote, while the center-right candidate, Alessandro Tomasi, is expected to receive between 39% and 43%. The candidate for the Toscana Rossa list, Antonella Bundu, is expected to receive between 4% and 6% of the vote. The sample coverage is 81%.
