Bergamo, 24 October (LaPresse) – ‘Today is a time for prayer. We are here only to pray and not to comment on this tragedy.’ These were the words of Don Luigi Carminati, parish priest of the church of Sant'Andrea Apostolo in Strozza (Bergamo), in the Imagna Valley, where the funeral of Pamela Genini, the 29-year-old woman stabbed to death by her partner, Gianluca Soncin, on the evening of 14 October in her home in the Gorla district of Milan, was held at 10.30 this morning. Outside the church, a red bench covered with flowers and photos of Pamela, next to a prayer taken from a text by St Augustine: “Death is nothing. I have only passed to the other side, as if I were hidden in the next room. Dry your tears and do not cry, if you love me: your smile is my peace”.
