Vatican City (Vatican), 27 October. (LaPresse) – The conflict in Ukraine, Europe and the situation in the Middle East. These were the main topics at the centre of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's visit to the Vatican. Orban was first received by Pope Leo XIV, then met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, accompanied by Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations. ‘During the cordial meeting in the Secretariat of State,’ reads a statement released by the Holy See Press Office, "the solid bilateral relations and appreciation for the Catholic Church's commitment to promoting social development and the well-being of the Hungarian community were emphasised, with particular attention to the role of the family, the education and future of young people, and the importance of protecting the most vulnerable Christian communities. Ample space was also given to European issues, with particular attention to the conflict in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East."
