Parma, 3 November (LaPresse) – ‘Chiara Petrolini does not have a psychiatric disorder that can be clearly documented in the manual; there are no clearly defined mental illnesses.’ This was stated by Mario Amore, psychiatrist and consultant, responding to questions from the public prosecutor during the trial of Petrolini, the young woman accused of giving birth to and burying her two newborn sons in the garden of her family's villa in Vignale di Traversetolo, in the Parma area. The specialist also answered a question about possible personality disorders. “In order to speak of a personality disorder, it must be habitual and have a certain duration. Petrolini does not have a personality disorder, there are traits that we will outline when you deem it appropriate,” he clarified. Finally, when asked whether Petrolini had the capacity to understand and act of her own free will at the time of the events, Amore specified that the young woman “has full capacity to understand and act of her own free will” in relation to the episode in question.
