Rome, 8 January (LaPresse) – The European Court of Human Rights has rejected the main points of the appeal filed in 2014 by Silvio Berlusconi and Fininvest on the legal case relating to the Lodo Mondadori. The Grand Chamber of the ECHR ruled that there had been ‘no violation’ of the ‘right to a fair trial’ and the ‘right of access to a court’. Furthermore, there had been no violation of the right to ‘protection of private property’ with regard to compensation to Cir. The ECHR, on the other hand, ruled in favour of Fininvest on the grounds that the Court of Cassation had not “adequately justified” the order to pay legal costs. The Court also ruled by a majority (6 votes to 1) that there had been no violation of the presumption of innocence in relation to Silvio Berlusconi.
