Rome, Jan 25 (LaPresse) – "This case demonstrates more than ever that even the relatives of someone who commits such a serious crime are victims—victims of a crime whose consequences painfully extend to those who bear no responsibility, a catabasis, a descent into hell that the Carlomagno family tragically could not bear. The reasons behind this terrible act were explained in a letter to their other son, Davide, which must be treated with respect and privacy. Unfortunately, just yesterday, messages were still circulating on social media such as 'that woman did well to kill herself after giving birth to a monster.' Reading this and knowing how much media pressure can disturb the consciences of those living through these dreadful situations, perhaps we should all practice a form of collective pedagogy to ensure that such events do not overflow beyond strictly legal boundaries."
This is stated in a note by lawyer Andrea Miroli, defender of Claudio Carlomagno, the man accused of the femicide of Federica Torzullo, following the suicide of his client’s parents, who were found hanged at home yesterday. Claudio Carlomagno has been informed of his parents’ death, the lawyer added. "My thoughts now go not only to my client (who has learned of it and is under watch) and how he will face this terrible news, but also to his son, who in a few days has lost his mother, his grandparents, and, for a long time, his father," the note reads.
