Parma, 13 February (LaPresse) – "Chiara is rightly concerned about how this situation will unfold. She has absolutely no psychotic tendencies, and we have not observed any developmental deficits or neurodivergence. For us, Chiara is not an incapable or unintelligent person; she is normal (which, for us, is not black and white, but rather a range of greys). There are no dissociative aspects; she is fragile and has a narcissistic nature." This was stated by psychiatrist Laura Ghiringhelli, appointed as an expert witness by the court for the trial of Chiara Petrolini, the young woman from Vignale di Traversetolo, in the province of Parma, accused of giving birth to and burying her two newborn children, born in May 2023 and August 2024. The young woman is not present in court today. “She is not isolated, she isolates herself,” Ghiringhelli pointed out. “She is not isolated, she is a social and cheerful person, but she isolates herself when she enters into confrontation and avoids it”.
