Rome, 10 March (LaPresse) – Following the exceptional weather events that occurred from 11 to 20 February in Calabria, in the provinces of Catanzaro and Cosenza, the Government accepted the proposal of the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policy, Nello Musumeci, declaring a state of emergency for twelve months. ‘The department's technicians,’ said the minister, ‘have allocated €15 million from the National Emergency Fund. The resources are intended for the implementation of urgent relief and assistance measures for the population and the restoration of public services and infrastructure. This will be carried out through orders issued by the Head of the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the region concerned.’
