Rome, 15 March (LaPresse) – Rescue teams from the VI Orobica Delegation of the Alpine Rescue Service were called out this morning following an avalanche below Cima Verde, heading towards Passo dello Scagnello, above the Albani mountain hut in Colere, in the province of Bergamo. The Soreu delle Alpi dispatched teams from the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps to the scene, comprising five technicians from the Schilpario station and two on duty in Clusone, as well as the AREU helicopter rescue service from Milan with the avalanche dog unit from Bergamo. One person, who was part of a group, was caught in the avalanche. Following assessment by the medical team, they were transported to hospital for further examination. The avalanche, a slab avalanche exacerbated by strong winds, had a front of approximately sixty metres. Clearance operations ruled out the presence of any other people swept away. The operation concluded in the early afternoon. The Alpine Rescue Service thanked the managers of the Colere ski lifts for transporting the teams to the high-altitude site and the managers of the Albani mountain hut for the support provided.
