Rome, 31 March (LaPresse) – "Easter is approaching, and it should be the holiest, most sacred time of the whole year. It is a time of peace, a time for deep reflection. But as we all know, once again we are witnessing so much suffering in many parts of the world, so many deaths, including those of innocent children. We continually call for peace, but unfortunately many people want to promote hatred and violence, war.” Pope Leo XIV said this as he left Villa Barberini in Castel Gandolfo, speaking to journalists. “I make a new appeal, inviting all Christians in particular to live these days, recognising that Christ is still crucified today. Christ still suffers today in the innocent, in those who are suffering, especially because of violence, hatred and war. Let us pray for them, for the victims of war. Let us pray that there may truly be a new, renewed peace that can give new life to everyone. Let us hope that the war ends before Easter,” he added.
