Milan, 11 April (LaPresse) – Carmelo Cinturrino will take the stand today to make unsolicited statements before investigating magistrate Domenico Santoro at the conclusion of the witness evidence in the preliminary hearing currently underway in Milan. This was explained by the lawyers representing the 41-year-old police officer accused of the premeditated murder of Abderrahim Mansouri and dozens of other offences, during a break in the hearing. “He feels a strong desire and need” to speak, says lawyer Davide Giuseppe Giugno, hoping that his statements will not be clouded “by the emotion that will undoubtedly overwhelm him” over a “case that deeply troubles him”. Cinturrino is ‘eager to see justice done and to receive it’ and is reportedly ‘very satisfied with how the preliminary hearing is going because absolutely irreconcilable contradictions are emerging’ in the witnesses’ statements. “Cinturrino is his own best advocate,” concluded the policeman’s lawyer, “he will need to provide us with a useful contribution to overcome what we believe to be prejudices” against him.
