Rome, 13 April (LaPresse) – Luca Spada, the ambulance driver arrested on Saturday on charges of causing the death of 85-year-old Deanna Mambelli, faces six counts of murder of elderly people brought by the Forlì Public Prosecutor’s Office. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly injected air into her via a venous catheter on 25 November 2025. This was explained by the Public Prosecutor of Forlì, Enrico Cieri, during a press conference, stating that Spada is charged with the murders of six elderly people in total. Regarding the murder of 85-year-old Deanna Mambelli, the subject of the order, the prosecutors also allege premeditation, a hypothesis which the investigating magistrate, Ilaria Rosati, does not, however, recognise. The investigating judge ordered the precautionary measure only in the case of Mambelli. The Forlì Public Prosecutor’s Office has charged Spada with five aggravating circumstances. “Regarding the other five murders, the investigating judge did not consider there to be sufficient evidence of serious criminal intent. We had presented the judge with evidence ranging from the serial nature of the conduct. The manner of death is similar to that of Mrs Mambelli. Although the cause of death is not specified because, according to medical staff, it was a sudden, unexpected and unforeseeable deterioration. There is also a statistical frequency that has confirmed an extraordinary recurrence of these events,” explained Cieri.
