Brussels, 31 Jan (LaPresse) – A protest by pro-Russian far-left groups in Bologna against European Parliament vice-president Pina Picierno ends up on prime-time Russian state TV. This time the member of the Democratic Party, who learned of the broadcast last night, decided to denounce the incident and the violation of sanctions. The images show a gathering of a few dozen people, with Communist Refoundation flags, posters against NATO and leaflets against the PD and its fight against Russian disinformation on which Picierno's photo appears juxtaposed with that of the Nazi hierarch Joseph Goebbels. ‘The first channel of the Russian state TV, obviously under sanctions, dedicates an extensive prime-time report to a gathering of about 20 people who allegedly gathered to protest against my initiatives to counter Russian disinformation in Italy, complete with a flyer in which my face is juxtaposed with that of Goebbels,’ the Pd exponent denounces on X. He adds: ‘This is a blatant violation of sanctions, which I will personally report to all the relevant authorities. It is also a clear act of disinformation on Italian soil and yet another attempt to intimidate me'.
