Brussels, March 20 (LaPresse) – "The Council's conclusions reference the letter sent by President von der Leyen, as always happens before European Councils. This particular letter refers to the new regulation on repatriations. It is a document that we have supported and continue to strongly support."

This was stated by the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, in a press statement on the sidelines of the European Council. "Among other things, it foresees hubs in third countries to process asylum applications, something that follows the work Italy has started with the Italy-Albania protocol. There is a request to expedite the solution on the concept of a safe country, and there is also a commitment to speed up the creation of a European list of safe countries, which would clearly resolve many of the issues we have discussed in recent weeks," she emphasized.
