Milan, March 25 (LaPresse) – The Ministry of Health, under the initiative of Minister Orazio Schillaci, "has already drafted a reform plan for the Central Commission for Health Professionals (Ceeps)," which is responsible for ruling on appeals against disciplinary measures issued by professional Orders, as well as matters related to registration and removal from professional registers and electoral appeals.

The ministry announced that the proposed reform, "to protect both citizens and professionals, aims to streamline procedural delays and speed up the handling and resolution of cases. It establishes that sanctions imposed by the professional Orders will be immediately enforceable while awaiting the Commission’s decision—unlike the current system, where an appeal to the Commission suspends the effectiveness of the sanction, whether it be revocation or suspension. This way, suspended or disbarred doctors would not be able to practice until the Commission issues its ruling."

Additionally, the reform proposes the creation of two specialized Sections—one for doctors and dentists, who account for more than half of the cases, and another for other healthcare professions—that will handle both pending and new appeals.
