Milan, March 30 (LaPresse) – "Once we achieve Autonomy, the goal must be to transform Italy into a federal state, with a greater number of exclusive legislative powers for the Regions and a leaner state. Bringing decisions closer to the citizens and territories is our mission." This is what Riccardo Molinari, the leader of the League in the Chamber of Deputies, stated in an interview with Corriere della Sera. He has filed a motion titled "Autonomy, Federalism, and Popular Sovereignty" ahead of the League congress, which will be held next weekend in Florence. When asked if, in addition to Autonomy, the Constitution needs to be changed, Molinari responded: "This way, we can also do away with the equal bicameralism, as it already is in practice, and have a Chamber for exclusive national competencies and a Senate of the Regions to deal with shared matters and collaborate on constitutional reforms and the ratification of treaties. An intermediate step could be greater collaboration between Regions of the same area on matters of their own competence, even institutionalizing macroregional decision-making bodies."
