Rome, April 7 (LaPresse) – “While Giorgia Meloni hopes things will resolve themselves, the Italian economy is taking heavy blows due to the decisions of her friend Trump, as shown by today’s further plunge of the Milan Stock Exchange and other global markets. Other European governments, starting with Sánchez's in Spain, are putting strong measures in place to protect and support businesses and workers. Meloni, on the other hand, only makes appeals for calm. There is an urgent need for a dose of humility and realism from the government. Tens of thousands of jobs are at stake: she should support a European negotiation to stop the application of tariffs and prepare a plan to support the sectors of the Italian economy most affected. The uncertainty over the past few weeks has already caused enormous damage, while she was still speaking in the conditional tense so as not to offend Trump. Enough with pretending nothing is happening.” Thus said Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein.
