Rome, 8 April (LaPresse) – ‘An absolutely wrong decision by the Trump administration’. This is how, according to what is learnt, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has returned to define American duties during meetings with economic categories on the subject of duties, stressing that ‘the economies of Western nations are strongly interconnected, such incisive protectionist policies will end up damaging Europe as much as the United States’. Meloni noted how ‘Europe and the United States have the most integrated economic relationship in the world, together accounting for almost 30% of world trade in goods and services and 43% of global GDP. They are economies that complement each other, as demonstrated by the fact that in 2023 the EU recorded a trade balance surplus of 157 billion on the goods side and a deficit of 109 billion on the services side'.
